renters FAQs

Are EVs on the platform covered by insurance?

When you're sharing an EV from a Business... yes

All Business-owned vehicles (ie vehicles owned by Councils or Auto-dealers) are covered by our commercial insurance which is provided by NIG, part of the Direct Line Group. The Guest does not need to take out any additional insurance.

EVs will only be insured up to the value of £75,000.

You can read the NIG insurance policy document in our Terms and Conditions.

When you're sharing from an individual (Peer-to-Peer)... no

If you are sharing a guest from an individual / private owner, then Zoom EV do not provide any insurance. It is the Guest's responsibility to ensure they have taken out sufficient short term insurance cover with a provider such as Cuvva (download the Cuvva app to get started). This should be done outside of the Zoom EV website.

Check the policy of the insurance provider you are using, but normally they will only cover vehicles up to a value of £40,000. Check that you have sufficient cover.
